Video games theft attempt halted

An Ennis man is in custody after attempting to steal several video games from Wal-Mart and then trying to evade police arrest, reports indicate. Lt. Mike Hopson said officers were dispatched to the store off of Ennis Ave., at 2:52 p.m. on July 24, when employees called to report that Damon Williams, 18, of Ennis entered the store, walked directly back to the electronics department of the store, and proceeded to smash and damage a glass case where he gained access to the games. Witnesses and employees reported to police that Williams, with the games in tow, then walked past the registers and point of sale to exit the store, before dropping the items where he took off running toward the exit of the store.
