Waxahachie PD investigating murder


Jan. 30, shortly after midnight, Waxahachie Police officers were dispatched to Grove Park Apartments. According to a press release from the department officers were dispatched in reference to a weapons disturbance. Upon their arrival, officers found that a shooting had occurred in one of the apartments. Officers were advised that two black male subjects knocked at the door of the apartment and, upon entering, shot one of the individuals at the location. The suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction. The male victim, identified as Dimitri Collins, 26, died as a result of a gunshot wound, police said in the release. The motive and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation. The suspects in this case are described as two black males, slender build, wearing all black clothing with long sleeve shirts and their faces covered with bandanas. At least one suspect was armed with a handgun. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Lt. Marcus Brown at 469-309-4426..
