Wife gets life sentence for killing husband

Amy Reese was sentenced by an Ellis County jury to life in prison for murdering her husband, Marlin Wade Reese, in October of 2012.

Reese, 39, of Red Oak, plead guilty to the charge and sought mercy from jurors when they considered her punishment. Amy Lockhart and Jake Heffernan, Ellis County prosecutors, revealed not only the heinous details of the murder but also Reese’s history with Child Protective Services.

The jury returned with a verdict that sent the defendant to life in prison. She will not be eligible for parole until serving at least 30 years of her sentence.
