A resilient Rice boys basketball squad fiercely battled playoff-bound Palmer (16-7) until the visitors pulled away for a 58–36 District 18-3A victory on Feb. 6.
The host Bulldogs (9-17) matched Palmer’s canine cagers in effort. Fabian Esquivel knocked down a buzzer- beating shot to end the half that energized the Bulldogs’ bench. Still, Palmer clung to a 33-20 margin entering the third quarter.
