Irete McGill Hagan, 96, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from Ennis, Texas.
Irete was born in Bells, Texas on September 17, 1920 to John Thomas and Goldie Lee (Parker) McGill.  She grew up in Bells, Texas and graduated from Bells High School in 1939.  On September 30, 1939 she married Melvin Everett Hagan and they made their home in Sherman, then to Denison and settled in Ennis in 1961.
She worked for Everett Insurance Company for many years and also for McCrary Insurance Company.  She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis and had been a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of Denison where she taught Sunday School.  She loved gospel music, working in her flower garden, sewing and all sports.  She loved spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Larry M. Hagan; daughters: Sarah Ann Webster, Virginia Adelle McCarty and husband, Jerry and Janice Rose Jones; fourteen grandchildren: eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary Woodward along with a host of other family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Veda Hendrix and Kaiwania Hill for the love and care they gave Irete over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin Everett Hagan, two brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson, Tyler Slovak.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Mike Sellers and Rev. Steve Holston officiating.  Her grandchildren will serve as her honorary pallbearers.  Interment will be held at 3 p.m. in Cedar Lawn Cemetery of Sherman with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
