Allen P. Morris, Jr.

Allen Peoples Morris Jr., 95 was welcomed to the gates of Heaven on Thursday, January 31, 2019 by his Lord and Savior. Allen was born in Richardson, Texas on July 10, 1923 to Allen P. and Lizzie (Jackson) Morris, Sr. On May 22, 1943 he married the love of his life Myrrah “Daisy” Morris who preceded him in death on March 18, 2018. They were married in Louisiana while Allen was stationed in New Orleans serving in the United States Coast Guard. Allen served in the Philippines during World War II. After his commission was over in the Coast Guard, Allen and Daisy found themselves back in Dallas, Texas where they raised their two sons, Allen L. and Randy S. Morris. In 1974 Allen and Daisy built a home in Ennis, Texas and spent the next 44 years building a beautiful life. Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather. Allen spent the majority of his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he retired and then joined Century 21 as a Realtor in Ennis. When he was not with his family, he loved to play golf and was actively involved in the Dallas Model “A” Club. Allen was an active member of the Ennis Chamber of Commerce and he and Daisy served as Ambassadors for many years. He and Daisy served the community as a Volunteer for the Ennis Meals on Wheels for over 10 years. Allen was a member of the Bristol Church of Christ where he attended until his death. He was blessed to live with Allen and Nancy the past ten months and to have Elaine Hutchins as his daily caregiver. Allen is survived by sons: Allen L. Morris and wife Nancy; Randy S. Morris and his wife Karen; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, along with many family and friends who loved him dearly. Allen is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Daisy, his mother, Lizzie Jackson Morris and father, Allen Peoples Morris, twin brother, Alvin and eight other brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Monday, February 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Ronnie Lowe officiating. Pallbearers will be Shane Morris, Evan Morris, Jeff Aycock, Jared Cunningham, Rorie Harris and Denney Harris. Interment will follow in the Crisp Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
