Bobby Lynn Hollingsworth 1951 – 2019

Bobby Hollingsworth, age 67, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, with his wife and loved ones at his side. Supported and surrounded by his loving family, Bobby battled lung cancer the past 6 months. He was born in Ennis, Texas to B. J. Hollingsworth and Margaret Lusk Hollingsworth on June 21, 1951 and lived his entire life in Ennis, the town he loved.
Bobby married Stacie Ann Harrison on August 30, 1969, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. The two married at the tender age of 18 and had a loving marriage that lasted almost 50 years. Bobby adored Stacie and sweetly called her ‘Anna’, spoiling her with even more attention after his retirement while she still worked. After graduating from Ennis High School in 1969 and marrying Stacie, he entered the National Guard and served from 1970 to 1976. During this time, his son Jason was born in 1970 and then his second son Christopher in 1973, both in Ennis. Bobby worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a conductor, later at Blazek Building Supply, and then retired from Lowes Distribution in 2016. Always active and doing things with his family and friends, Bobby enjoyed sports, music, camping, and hand crafting gifts. He played the drums and loved to dance even in his last days. He volunteered with recreation sports with his sons, played slow pitch softball, and umpired summer league baseball games. He was a loyal and true Ennis Lion fan and was at every football game for his sons and every dance recital, marching band performance, softball game and sporting event for his granddaughters and grandsons. Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to everyone. He would cross the room to introduce himself if he didn’t know you. He was a caretaker for his family, gentle yet strong, and the family ringleader for holidays, reunions, and parties. He always made everyone feel included. He was a rich man in family, friends, and fellowship. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, B.J. Hollingsworth; his brother-in-law, Sonny Harrison; nephew, Corey Hollingsworth; and great-niece, Kinsley Taylor. Bobby is survived by his wife Stacie and his mother Margaret, his sons: Jason and wife Shellie and Christopher and wife Kimberley; his grandchildren: Leanna, Reid, Flynn, Julia, Emilie, and Tate; his four brothers and sistersin-law: Jerry and Kim, James and Teresa, Larry and Ronda, and Roger and Kathleen; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Charles Harrison and Billie, Vanessa and David Perdue, and Phyllis Harrison; his five nieces, 11 nephews, 37 great nieces and nephews, many cousins and extended family. A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at a later date and all will be welcomed to remember Bobby’s life with his family. At the end, when we all wanted more time with him, Bobby’s last request was to take “one day at a time.” We know he is already introducing himself in heaven and reunited with loved ones.
