Carol Cox

Carol was a selfless, humble woman who played many roles: wife, mom, Memaw, sister, friend, and mentor.  She could lighten the mood with her humor, recollection of past memories, and unconditional love.  No matter how long you knew her, whether it was a lifetime or five minutes, she captured your heart.  She found pleasure in a steaming cup of coffee, the gentle motion of her porch swing and the simple elegance of an orchid.  She stood strong in her Faith in God. It was her comfort.  She was a disciple  with a servant heart who cherished her congregation at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ennis.  She had a love for her family that could move mountains and she was the rock of her large family.
She was born on July 19, 1940 in Waxahachie.  She attended Waxahachie High School and was graduated in the class of 1958.  She worked hard in her career path in earlier years, but for nearly four decades found her greatest joy in full-time devotion to her family.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, David Cox, their children: Dave Cox and wife Teresa, Stephanie Marchbanks and husband Barry, Kelly Betik and husband Dwayne, Deana Gryder (DeeDee,) and Tim Cox and wife Sheila.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. They are Jason Cox and wife Rachel; Natalie Cox and son Cade;  Adam Fuller and daughter Makaylah; Aaron Fuller, wife Alyece, and children Aaron and Emberlynn;  Daron Fuller; Ashley Cox, Mitch Keasler and children Keagan and Sawyer; John David Cox and daughter Brynnlee; Joel Cox and daughter Chloe; Chris Marchbanks, wife Rebecca and children Noah, Grace, Anna and Josiah; David Michael, wife Megan and son Eli; Lauren Marchbanks and children Andrew, Aiden, Ansley, Blayne and Hattie; Matthew Marchbanks, wife Casey and son Cadent; Paul Marchbanks, wife Lacy and daughter Emma; Timothy Marchbanks; Amber Willis, husband Mark and children Caleb, Cilas and Case; Jarred Tims, Amber Hunt and daughter Ava; Amanda (Betik) Pustejovsky, husband Daniel and children Addison and Brooklyn; Kati (Betik) Arnold, husband Jeff and children Halli, Claire and Charli; D.J. Betik, fiancé Heather Novy and son Brayden; John Timothy Cox and wife Natalie; Sarah Cox.
Surviving siblings are Martha Hensley, Jim South, and Joe Mac South.
She joins family in heaven, including parents James and Willie Jo South,  sister Billie Sue Kelly, brother Milton South, and daughter Allison Beggs Tims.
The Cox family is unique. On their wedding day, David and Carol brought their families together and gave them a new start. David worked hard to provide, while  Carol settled in to make a home.  This resulted in a family that is a true miracle, and a testimony to God’s redemptive love.
Her services were held at J.E. Keever Mortuary, 408 N. Dallas Street, in Ennis.  Visitation was Monday, September 11th, 6-8 p.m.  Funeral Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 12th, in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc..
