Clyde ‘C.T.’ Vinson


Clyde “C.T.” Vinson, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. C.T. was born in Pealtown, Texas on June 14, 1925 to Henry Howell and Maudi (Brock) Vinson. He grew up in Ennis and attended school here. On February 22, 1950 he married Meloneize Dover and they made their home in Lake Charles, Louisiana and then to Byrd. He served his country proudly in the United States Army serving in the Philippines, Okinawa during WWII and in Japan during the occupation until June of 1946. He was a farmer and rancher for over fifty years and worked for R.N. Adams Construction for fifteen years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the American Legion as a Life Member and the VFW of Ennis. He loved his family and loved the Lord and was a member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church for many years. He is survived by his wife of over sixty-eight years, Meloneize Vinson; sons: Clyde David Vinson and wife, Yvonne and Tommy Jack Vinson; grandchildren: Amanda Jackson, Blake Vinson and wife, Audrey and Hilary Reynolds and husband, Justin; great-grandchildren: Kalli Vinson, Reid Jackson and Caroline Jackson; sister, Jean Stivers along with extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents who raised him, Charlie and Vealy Vinson (his mother passed away when he was only 18 months old and he lived with his grandparents along with his aunts and uncles who were more like brothers and sisters to him); sisters, Juanita Neal, Jo Keasler and Wanda Dover and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Carol Vinson. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 in Anthony Drive Baptist Church of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Anthony Drive Baptist Church of Ennis with Rev. Matthew Walker officiating. Pallbearers will be Blake Vinson, Amanda Jackson, Bob Keasler, Dan Keasler, Justin Reynolds and Billy Flores. Interment will follow in Elm Branch Cemetery of Bardwell under the directions of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice in memory of C.T.
