Dorothy Wells Pierce, 98, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving


Dorothy was born on May 25, 1917, to Leo and Belvia (Smith) Wells in Ennis, Texas. She attended school in Garrett

and Ennis graduating from Ennis High School in 1936.

Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Marshall Greene Pierce on December 5, 1936. They lived in Ennis

where Marshall worked for Beasley Wholesale Grocers before moving to Longview, Texas, where he worked in the oil

field for a short time. Later they moved back to Ennis where he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad Company.

It was here that their one and only child, Brenda Marshall Pierce, was born. Dorothy enjoyed the role of mother,

housewife and homemaker never having employment outside the home. They built their family home here in Ennis

where they enjoyed their retirement years. Dorothy and Marshall loved to garden and spent many hours raising

beautiful plants and working in their yard. They won several Yard of the Season awards from the Ennis Garden Club.

They loved to travel and spent many weeks and sometimes months traveling in their travel trailer with camping

friends and family members enjoying the sites all over these United States.

Dorothy was a faithful member of Baylor Baptist Church.

She is survived by two grandchildren: Rodney Pollan, and his wife, Sylvia of Friendswood, Texas and Rhonda

Pollan Minnehan of San Leon, Texas. Four great-grandchildren, Jacob Tyler and Mitchell Pierce Pollan, Kylie Marshall

and Joshua Stephen Minnehan, two great-great-grandchildren, Kara Maria and Kaleb Onnie Dale Jackson, many

nieces and nephews, Her sister-in-law, Doris Pierce Gerron and special caregivers, Kathy Wells Vance, Courtney

Barton and LaDonna Cook.

She is preceded in death by her husband Marshall, her daughter, Brenda and her parents, Leo and Belvia Wells.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the J.E. Keever

Mortuary of Ennis.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016, in Myrtle Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Mansell and

Rev. Chet Hensley of Baylor Baptist officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pallbearers will be

W.D. Pollan, Jacob and Mitchell Pollan, Joshua Minnehan, John Vance and Bill Dodson.
