Edward Frank Patak “Eddy,” age 64, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2018 in Ennis, TX. He was born, February 23, 1954 to Adolph and Margie Patak in Ennis, TX. He was reared in the Ennis area, attended school in Ennis, graduating from Ennis High School in 1972. On March 20, 1982, he married Sandra Sojourner of Dallas, beginning a union that lasted 36 years. They had a full and wonderful life together. After their marriage they lived a brief time in Dallas, moving permanently to Ennis in 1991, providing their children Megan and Matthew the opportunity to live and play on the farm in the country, raising pigs in FFA, and enjoying country life. Ed was an outstanding devoted dad to his children, and grandchildren. He was a very devoted husband, father, Papaw, brother and uncle. Ed leaves behind a family that loved him dearly. Everyone who knew Ed was impressed by his upbeat attitude while facing the uncertain outcome of his fight with cancer. Ed loved to talk deer hunting and shared much with his Texas Bowhunting extended family. As lease manager of the 09 Ranch in Mertzon, the guys rate him as one of the best lease managers they have ever met. An adventurous fisherman, Ed loved fishing off shore with family and friends. Trout and Flounder was what he liked best. A Trim Carpenter and Cabinet Maker by trade for 40 plus years, many of Ed’s customers became life long friends. Ed has, and will, continue to touch people’s lives for years to come. Ed loved family get togethers, having crawfish boils, birthday celebrations and the traditional Christmas Eve fish fry. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of Ennis; a daughter and her husband, Megan Patak-Baker and Keith Baker of Ennis; and a son Matthew Patak of Plano; two sisters, Angie Patak of Ennis; and DeAnn and her husband, Sonny Moreno of Waxahachie; he was blessed with two granddaughters, Aspen and Addison Baker of Ennis; two nephews, Andrew Patak and William Moreno of Waxahachie; and numerous uncles and aunts, along with loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Margie Patak on March 31, 2013, his father Adolph Patak on February 20, 2004, and a sister Charlene Patak-Salmon, in 1974. It was Ed’s desire, to admirably and generously donate his body to the University Of Texas Willed Body Program for further medical education, that will help educate future physicians, scientists, and other healthcare providers and improve the quality of healthcare for your family and future generations. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice, or a special account has been established at Ennis State Bank in lieu of flowers, to help with medical costs. A celebration of Edward’s life will be held at the KJT in Ennis. Date to be determined. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 12, at St John Catholic Church, with a mass following at 6:30 pm.
