Elsa Emily “Ganny” Smith

Smith for paperFuneral services for Elsa Emily “Ganny” Smith, 79, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Smith was born July 7, 1934 in Ozone Park, New York to the late Frederick Robert and Ella (Weck) Long, and died Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Smith had resided in Lufkin since 1965. She retired from Lufkin ISD where she worked as an Insurance Secretary. Mrs. Smith was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Chestnut Drive Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Jill Smith of Cypress; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Greg Roth of Ennis and Kim and Steve Widner of Austin; granddaughters, Natalie Cooke and husband Brandon of Dallas, Anna Widner of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Emily Smith of College Station, Laura Haskovec and husband Doug of Houston, Stephanie Roth of Irving and Donna Roth of Denton; grandsons, Jackson Widner of Lubbock, Zachary Smith of Cypress, Troy Roth and Tracy Roth, both of Denton; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elie Smith, Jr.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elie Smith, Sr. and Edith Reynolds Smith. Pallbearers will be Brandon Cooke, Doug Haskovec, Jackson Widner, Zachary Smith, Troy Roth and Tracy Roth. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chestnut Drive Baptist Church, 1701 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
