Elsie M. Pomykal passed away peacefully at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas, with her daughter and nephew by her

side on Wednesday March 23, 2016.

Elsie was born in Ferris, Texas, in February 1927. She was the youngest of five children born to Birk and Dora

Lowe. Elsie grew up on the family farm near Trumbull and graduated from Ferris High School.

Elsie was working at Texaco Oil Company in Dallas when she met her future husband, Dan Pomykal. They were

married 50 years until Dan’s death in 2000. Together, they built, grew and managed The Ennis Nursing Home for two

decades, at a time when few women had management roles. She was a meticulous manager who patrolled the halls

to ensure that her facility was spotless and her patients had the best care possible. She was loved, occasionally

feared, but deeply respected by all.

Elsie was the happiest when traveling with her family and friends on Texas Nursing Home Association trips around

North America and Europe or spending time with her daughter and grandson, and her dear sister Ruth, who preceded

her in death in 2014. A social person by nature, she was a consummate host who loved to entertain and have a good

time. Elsie was truly a self-expressed, one of a kind lady who will not soon be forgotten. She is survived by her loving

daughter Danna, her adored grandson Daniel, niece Sandra Lowe-Accardi, and nephews: Wayne Lowe, Keith

Pomykal, Curtis Pomykal, Craig Pomykal, Parker Pomykal, and Preston Pomykal. She was lovingly cared for at the

end of her life by her nephew Keith Pomykal, Inez Fira and the dedicated staff at Legend Oaks Health Care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of

Ennis. Interment will follow in the Ferris Memorial Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
