Emily Jane Mapp Rhodes

2132243Emily Jane Mapp Rhodes, 79, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Jane was born on March 4, 1934 to John Franklin and Myrtle Estelle (Wafer) Mapp in Haslet, Texas. She grew up in Fort Worth, Scurry and Ennis graduating from Scurry-Rosser High School in 1952. On September 27, 1952 she married John Archie Rhodes and they made their home in Ennis, then to Palmer, Terrell and back to Ennis in 1975. Jane worked as a manager for White’s Auto Store for thirteen years and Western Auto Store for three years, then to Story Manufactory for one year and as the sales manager for Giles Monument for thirty years. She was a member of New Beginning Fellowship Church. She is survived by her husband, John Archie Rhodes; one son, John DeWayne Rhodes and his wife, Delores; three daughters; Wanda Rhodes Jackson, Patricia Rhodes Morris and her husband Kelly Morris and Carma Rhodes Thomas and her husband, Randy Thomas; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Shirley Mapp Ramirez Wagner. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Mapp, brother, George C. Pate, two sisters, Doris Lord and Patricia Cardino, in-laws, Stephen “Bud” and Linnie Rhodes, sister-in-law, Jean O’Guin (Tedder) and grandchildren, Ronald G. Yates and Tiffany and Tracy Pool. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Eddie Ricks officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. The family requests memorials be made to the IOOF Nursing Home in Jane’s name. www.jekeevermortuary.com
