Estell Branam Norton

Estell Branam Norton, 96, passed away in Italy, Texas on Monday, February 6, 2017.

Estell was born November 17, 1920 to Fred B. and Leona (Hobbs) Branam.  On July 22, 1939 she married Sam J. Norton, Jr. and they made their home in Rankin, Texas, then to Bardwell, Ennis, Lancaster, Lake Palestine and back to Bardwell in 1993.

She was a member of the Bardwell Church of Christ.  She enjoyed Bingo, 42 and crochet.

She is survived by sons:  Don Norton and wife, Edie, Jerry Norton and wife Deborah and Randy Norton and wife Toni; daughter Jan Marshall and husband Brent; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons and one brother R.L. “Pete” Branam.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of almost 70 years, Sam J. Norton, Jr. in 2009, son Sammy Norton in 1958, four sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Casey Hendrix officiating.  Pallbearers will be Nathan, Jeremy, Jason and Jerrod Norton; Brian and Jeff Marshall; Heath Norton and Scott McCutcheon.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tamera McCasland, Cortni Norton and Carrie McCutcheon.  Interment will follow in Elm Branch Cemetery of Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

On behalf of Mrs. Norton’s family, “we send a heartfelt thank you to Trinity Mission Health Nursing Home of Italy, TX, for caring for and loving our mom/granny for the last two years.”
