Geraldine “Geri” Belha Horak

Geraldine “Geri” Belha Horak, of Waxahachie passed away Saturday morning in Irving, TX. She was 84.

Geri was born in Ennis to Joe and Frances Belha on March 12, 1928. She grew up in Ennis, where she also went to school. She married Jerry Horak, and they made their home in Waxahachie.

Geri had a long career working at Erwin Distributing, where she worked for 38 years. She worked there up until last week. Before that, she worked as manager of the Gibson’s Gardening department for several years. She was a member of the KJZT, loved gardening, and nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Geri is survived by two sons: Dennis Horak and his wife Beverly of Waxahachie, and David Horak and his wife Debbie of Ovilla; one daughter, Kathy Wright and her husband Ricky of Red Oak; one Daughter-in-Law, Marsha Horak; 10 grandchildren: Maudie Cox and her husband Paris, Allison Manly and her husband Chad, Bekah Roebuck, Justin Horak and his wife Rachel, Jeramy Horak and his wife Melissa, Rachel Grimes and her husband Wade, Holly Horak, Emily Pullin and her husband Nathan, Michael Wright, and Julie Wright; and 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and one sister, Janie Jakubik.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Horak, one son, Jerry Wayne Horak, two brothers: Wesley Belha and Joe Belha and one sister, Mary Lou Novy.

A visitation was held on Monday, August 27, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the J. E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, August 28, at 10 a.m. at the J. E. Keever Chapel with Carl Whirley officiating. Interment followed at St Joseph Cemetery in Ennis. The family has requested that donations may be made to the St Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
