Guy W. Mixon

Guy W. Mixon, Sr., 89, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 in Ennis, Texas.

Guy was born in Longstreet, Texas on January 4, 1928 to T.J. and Carrie I. (Neeley) Mixon.  He grew up in Longstreet, Texas and graduated from Longstreet High School.  He went on to attended the University of North Texas where he received his Master’s Degree in Education.  On August 26, 1955 he married Jo Nell Hickey and they made their home in Shreveport, LA then to Elysian Field, Texas and settled in Ennis in 1970.  He served his country in the United States Army during the Japan Occupation.

He was and Educator in Shreveport, Elysian Field, Grand Saline and Ennis.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis, the Evening Lions Club serving as past president, and Ennis Retired Teachers Association.  He enjoyed golf and baseball.  He had served on the Ennis Band Boosters as a past President.

He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him and he will be missed most by his loving family including his wife of over sixty-one years, Jo Nell Mixon; sons: Justin Mixon and Guy W. Mixon, Jr.; daughter, Cindy Cordell and five grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rev. Craig Krieger officiating.  Interment will be held in the Deadwood Cemetery in Deadwood, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation to the charity of your choice.
