Gwendolyn Bradley Draper

Gwendolyn Bradley Draper was born on December 22, 1939, to the union of the late Hiawatha and Lela Bradley in Tyler, Texas. She was the second of eight children.
Gwen attended George Washington Carver High School and graduated May 1959. She graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 1963 with a Bache­lor of Arts degree in Home Economics, and received a Certification in History in 1973 from East Texas State University. She taught 32 years in the Ennis In­dependent School District, teaching home economics and middle school social studies.
On July 11, 1970, Gwendolyn Bradley married the love of her life, Odell Draper, and to this union one daughter was born, Tambra. Gwen and Odell were married for 31 years.
Her charismatic nature and outgoing spirit never went unnoticed. She touched many lives, believed in working hard and taking care of her family. She always put family first. She cherished her husband, daughter, students, and her dogs (which she thought the world of).
Gwen is preceded in death by her husband, sister, mother, and father.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a daughter, Tambra Draper-Horn (Hal); seven siblings, Erma Bradley, Carolyn Alfred (Willie), Eloise Johnson (James), Hiawatha Bradley II, Doston Bradley (Bobbie), Sam Bradley, and Frank Bradley; one aunt, Elease Edwards and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Wake service will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Golden Gate Fu­neral Home, 4155 South R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75224.
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 25, 2015, at 12 noon at Ennis Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 800 E. Freeman St., Ennis, TX.
Service are under the direction of Golden Gate Funeral Home of Dallas.
