H. Nell Tonick

H. Nell Tonick, 94, passed away in Ennis, Texas, on Saturday, December 19, 2015.

Nell was born in Dallas, Texas, on June 30, 1921, to John K. and Harriett E. (Hines) Sullenger. She grew up in Dallas and attended school there. On September 29, 1961, she married Milton C. Tonick and they made their home in Dallas until 1978 when they moved to Ennis.

Nell was a Constable for over fifteen years for Dallas County until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the Christ the King Church, SPJST #25, and RVOS #142. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and game shows.

She is survived by one son, Herk Briggs and wife, Judi; grandchild, Jeff Briggs and wife, Jennifer; four great-grandchildren: Hailey Briggs, Breanna Briggs, Amaris Briggs and Takoda Briggs; and one sister, Vivian “Bill” Collier.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milton Tonick, on January 10, 2001, and three brothers.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Graveside services were held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
