Howard L. Disharoon

Howard L. Disharoon, 85, passed away at his home in Ennis on Saturday, March 26, 2011.

Howard was born in Greyburg, Texas on January 24, 1926, to Howard L. and Eva (Davis) Disharoon.

He grew up in Kilgore, Texas and graduated from Kilgore High School. On October 10, 1947, he married Betty Bain and they made their home in Kilgore for five years. Later they lived in New Orleans for twenty-five years before finally moving to Ennis in 1985. Howard served his country proudly first in the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre and then in the United States Army in Japan during the Korean Conflict.

He worked for Gulf Oil Company for more than thirty-six years as a production supervisor. He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church in New Orleans, Masonic Lodge in Kilgore, Lions Club of Ennis, Honor Flight Honorary, and active Meals on Wheels delivery volunteer.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bain Disharoon of Ennis: daughter, Betsy Anne Disharoon and her husband, Douglas Stewart of Quincy, MA; son, H. Steven Disharoon and his wife, Tama of Yoakum, Texas; grandchildren: Lissa, Caleb, John and Kallie; great-grandchild: Ava; brother-in-law: Jim Bain of Ennis along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Keith Murray officiating.

Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.

The family request donations be make in Howard’s memory to Meals on Wheels, 500 Ferris Avenue, Waxahachie, Texas 75165 or the Texas Lion Camp, 4100 Memorial Blvd., Kerrville, Texas, 78028.
