Hoy Potts

1900525Hoy Potts, age 77, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. Hoy was born in Wingo, KY on January 2, 1936 to Edward and Laverne Green Potts. He grew up in Wingo and graduated from Wingo High School in 1955. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He was honorably discharged in 1959 and then chose to move to Texas. In 1961 he met his dream girl, Veneda Tay. And they were married August 14, 1962. They lived in Dallas, Irving, Ennis, Desoto and back to Ennis in 1995. He worked for Josam Mfg., H.F. Wood and Associates and retired from DeRo Products at the age of 71. Hoy enjoyed traveling, his spring veggie garden, tinkering in his shop; but most of all he enjoyed his family. Hoy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Veneda, Daughter Shelly and husband, Craig Fincher, son Steven Potts and partner Craig Love, granddaughter Brooke and husband Jeremy Falkenbach and grandson Dillon Fincher. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Rule, Rita and husband Jackie Herndon of Mayfield, Kentucky, Judy and husband Danny Carlisle of Kennett, MO, brother Arson and wife Janet Potts of Wingo, KY, sister-in-law Billie Tay of Ennis, TX and brother-in-law Harris and Susan Connell of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Laverne Green, brother-in-law Jimmy A. Tay and Arby Rule, sister-in-law Caroline Connell and nephew Trinity Potts. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice. Visitation will be on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E.
