John Robert Maxwell 1929 – 2019

John Bob Maxwell, age 90, passed away on, March 3, 2019. He was born in Hillsboro, Texas on February 26, 1929 to his parents, Nay C. and Pauline (Utley) Maxwell. He served in the U.S. Military as a Marine during the Korean War. John started Maxwell Jewelers along beside his parents in 1946. When they first started, they rented the front of the building, of Beauty College. Maxwell Jewelers has been a family owned business in Waxahachie, Texas for 74 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, Woodmen of the World, member of the Men’s Downtown Sunday School and a member of Forreston Baptist Church. John was a tough but kind and loving man who treated everyone the same. If he said, “it was going to happen” it did. John was a man of his words who loved his family, friends and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends and loved ones. John is survived by loving wife of 54 years, Billie Maxwell; son, Jody Maxwell and wife Marlen; daughters, Michelle Small and husband Todd, Misti Pearman and husband Michael and 5 granddaughters, Grace, Addey and Rose Small and Savannah and Scarlett Pearman. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Billy Pat Maxwell and granddaughter, Sadie Pearman. In lieu of flowers in memory can be made to Ellis County Child Welfare Board, P.O. Visitation for family and friends will be held, Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6-8PM at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. A Funeral Service to honor John Maxwell will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, Texas. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
