Jose Martinez


Jose Martinez, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in the Pleasant Manor Health Center of Waxahachie.
Jose was born on September 16, 1921 to Juan and Petra (Gonzales) Martinez in Bertram Texas. He grew up in Bertram. In 1945 he married Gloria Garcia Martinez and they made their home in Ellis County.
He worked for Southwest Overhead Doors for more than twenty years as the shop foreman. He was a life time member of L.U.L.A.C and St. John Catholic Church. He loved to play in a conjunto where he played the guitar and sang. He enjoyed working in his yard and working on lawn mowers. He took great pride in taking care of his wife during her declining years. The light of his life was playing with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by three sons: Federico Martinez and his wife, Martha of Sachse, Adam Martinez and his wife, Tammy of Three Rivers along with Jesse Martinez and his wife, Desiree of Ennis; two daughters: Lois and her husband, Mike Carrillo of Hurst and Linda Martinez Bolton of Ennis; twenty grandchildren: twelve great-grandchildren: two great-great-grandchildren on the way: one brother: Arthur Martinez and his wife, Irma of Ennis; one sister: Fidela Felan of Dallas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gloria of fifty-four years, one son David Martinez, two daughters, Nora Martinez and Ruby Contreras, four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Steve Carrillo, Justin Martinez, Richard Carrillo, Kevin Martinez, Michael Carrillo and Aaron Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Dyson and Joseph Martinez. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery of Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
