Juanita “Nita” Anne Underwood Bozek

Juanita “Nita” Anne Underwood Bozek, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, October 11, 2019.

Nita was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 16, 1932 to William F. and Jessie (Hardin) Underwood. She grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1950. Nita went on to attend Texas Tech University where she met her husband, William D. Bozek, Jr. They lived in Maryland for five years during the Korean War and came back to Ennis, Texas in 1956 to make their home and raise their children on the family farm..

Nita was the bookkeeper for Bozek Farms, she was the owner of Monograms by Nita and the Director of the Ennis Railroad Museum. Nita was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ennis where she was a member of the choir. Nita was very active in the community and with her children thru scouting. She along with Mrs. Anne Keever, were the first Scout Leaders that set out to have a summer day camp program in Ennis for girls. She worked tirelessly with the help of her husband and other parents of Ennis. Nita was active in many civic organizations including The Ennis Garden Club, Heritage Society, a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, Bluebonnet Trails and The Ennis Railroad Museum. Her other passions were swimming playing bridge, lunch bunch at the Chat and Chew and Sinne Dinner Club. She loved her family with all her heart and enjoyed the holidays where they all helped decorate and baked gingerbread men for the holidays.

She leaves behind to carry on her memory two daughters: Brenda K. Jones and husband, Sam and Terri Gillen and husband, Danny; son, Jamie Bozek and wife, Jami; grandchildren: Kimberly, Russell, Amie, Rebecca, Katie, Misty, Katy and Kenna; great-grandchildren: Reece, Audrey, Rileigh, Kynlee, Madi, Elliot, Zoey, Jude, Cruz, Christian, Connor, Dean, Maddy, Chloe and Jade and a host of extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lawrence, sister, Billie Joe, a daughter, Debbie Bozek-Prachyl and a son, Andrew “Andy” E. Bozek.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 14, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life was held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment followed in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The family request in lieu of flowers you consider a donation in Nita’s name to the First United Methodist Church of Ennis.
