Kenneth Walter Holt

Kenneth Walter Holt, 81, passed away early Saturday morning at the Ennis Care Center.
Kenneth was born in Ennis, Texas on November 1, 1929 to his father, Pleasant Kennan and mother, Lucinda Nash. He spent his entire childhood growing up in Ennis. He graduated from Ennis High School in 1947. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Anna Rose Bolger, from Dallas. They made their home in Ennis five years later.
Soon after his high school graduation he became a member of the Southern Pacific Railroad working as a Car Man. His true passion in life was trains, and his career with the railroad lasted nearly forty years until he retired.
Besides working on the railroad all the live long day he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and cooking. He really loved the out doors and the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico. He was a true country boy.
He is survived by two sons, John Robert Holt and his wife D’Anna of Kerens, Richard Kelly Holt and his wife Christy of Sardis, one daughter, Lori Ann Greco and her husband Michael of Burnet. He also has twelve grandchildren and four great grand children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and one sister.
A memorial service was held for Kenneth at 2 p.m. yesterday at the J.E. Keever mortuary Chapel in Ennis. Brother Wes Johnson of Kerens Baptist Church officated. In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to the American Diabetes Association.
