Leon Odom
Leon Odom, 78, passed away in Ennis on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Leon was born in Fort Worth, Texas on December 26, 1933 to Roy G. and Opal Irene (Murphy) Odom. He grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Fort Worth Tech in 1952. On December 25, 1952 he married Peggy Miller and they made their home in Hurst, Texas for sixteen years before moving to Ennis, Texas in 1972. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy serving on the USS Lloyd Thomas. He worked for Bell Helicopter for twenty-one years as a bonder, for Triple O Dairy for five years and was a CHL instructor for fifteen years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ennis, Hurst Masonic Lodge #1387, Scottish Rite 32nd degree, was on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Arms Collectors Association, Texas State Rifle Association, NRA, Colt Collectors Association and Ennis Gun Club. He was an avid Colt collector. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Odom of Ennis; son, Scott Leon Odom and his wife, Suzette Odom of Plano; daughter, Carla Robinson of Ennis; two grandchildren: Ryan Pitts and Erica Robinson; two great-grandchildren and sister, Charolet Smith of Fort Worth. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Leanne Odom in 2001. Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Ennis with Rev. Keith Murray officiating.
