Maxine Cox Hobbs

Maxine Cox Hobbs, 84, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Maxine was born in Lindale, Texas on September 23, 1929 to Robert Taylor and Pearl Lee (Willingham) Cox. She grew up in Waxahachie, Texas and attended school in Waxahachie. On May 24, 1972 she married Bobby Joe Hobbs and they made their home in Waxahachie before moving to Ennis in 1972. She worked for Haggar Slacks for twelve years as a seamstress. She was a member of the SPJST #135. She enjoyed reading and watching TV. Her passion was painting in oils. She loved to go to Shreveport and visit the casinos. She is survived by son, Ronald Childress of Ennis; daughter, Pamela and her husband, Henry Gray of Navarro Mills; seven grandchildren; Frank Williams, Angela Hobbs, Bryan Childress, Jana Childress, Dustin Gray, Gary Gray and Robin Gray: seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bobby Joe Hobbs on November 23, 2004, one son, Donald Childress on January 9, 2007, two grandchildren, Rachel Childress, and Robert Chambers; four sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. www.jekeevermortuary.com
