Maybelle Cave Donaldson May 01, 1921 – June 26, 2018


Maybelle Cave Donaldson, 97, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Waxahachie, Texas. Maybelle was born on May 1, 1921 to Marion and Ina Bell (Merritt) Cave in Corbit, Texas in Navarro County. She grew up in Garrett, Texas in Ellis County and graduated from Garrett High School in 1939. After graduation she went to work for Ennis Tag Company. She met Claude Donaldson there and got to know him. Claude went on to join the Navy and Maybelle married him in San Diego, California where he was stationed on August 24. 1943. Claude and Maybelle had three children, two boys and a girl: Darrell Wayne Donaldson, James Allen Donaldson and Cheryl Donaldson. She worked for Ennis Business Forms for many years in the sales department. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. She is survived by the love of her life of almost seventy-five years, Claude Donaldson; son, James Donaldson and wife, Beverly; daughter, Cheryl Knowlton and husband, Troy; four grandchildren: Kara Michelle Donaldson, Marcus Dee Donaldson, Joshua Ryan Knowlton and Kasey Eryn Knowlton; three great-grandchildren: Ryan Hunter Sachse, Summer Cadynce Weber and Schaefer Jack Weber; sisters: Ina Mae Reeves and Charlotte Stockton along with numerous nieces and nephews who all loved her heartily. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Darrell Donaldson who was killed in Vietnam on March 9, 1969 and three brothers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Mike Sellers officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Knowlton, Terry Heil, Marcus Donaldson, Chad Hovis, Ryan Sachse and Frank Westbook. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
