Nadine Rose Sims

2128663Nadine Rose Sims, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Nadine was born to Walter and Lela Rose in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, on April 18, 1926. She attended school in Fairfield, Illinois, graduating from Fairfield Community High School in 1944. She moved to Odessa, Texas, in January of 1957. On March 18, 1964, she married John J. Sims. She was employed at First National Bank, First State Bank, Western National Bank and Liberty Trust Company in Odessa. She retired from FDIC in Midland, Texas in 1991. Nadine and her husband, John, moved to Gardendale in 1973. They established a 4,000 pecan tree orchard known as Blue Ribbon Pecans. They won multiple awards and blue ribbons from the local and state pecan shows for many years. She is survived by three daughters: Cynthia Esmond and husband Steve of Irvine, California, Janice Schattman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Holly Heil and husband Terry of Ennis, Texas; grandchildren: Richard, Greg and Chris Esmond, Jason, Martha, Rebecca and Theresa Schattman, Rick and Brady Barber, Brandy Barber Adams, Kevin, Trista, Amber, Trenton, Tyler and Trevor Heil and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John J. Sims, her parents, Walter and Lela Rose and two sisters, Gerry Thompson and Dena Zimmerman. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis one hour before services. A Celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis with Rev. Craig Krueger officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Garden in Odessa, Texas under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. www.jekeevermortuary.com
