Nellie Crow

Nellie Crow, 93, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 in the Legend Oaks Rehabilitation Center of Ennis.
Nellie was born in Bristol, Texas, to William Anderson and Jessie D. (Walker) Hall on August 15, 1918. She grew up in Bristol and graduated from Bristol High School in 1936. In 1935 she married J.D. Crow and they made their home originally in Houston and then in Ennis.
She worked for eight years as the owner of Crow’s Snack Bar in Ennis and then for Storey’s Manufacturing during the 1970’s as a seamstress. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ennis for many years. She loved to sew and cook for everyone. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends; she also loved to travel especially to Europe, Mexico and taking cruises.
She is survived by her son: James Crow and his wife, Dianne of Ennis; daughters: Wanda Rankin of Seguin, Texas, Barbara and her husband, Cliff Williamson of Bullard, Texas, Margie and her husband, Bobby Hood of Rowlett, Texas, Elizabeth and her husband, Winston Hickman of Ennis, Texas and Patricia Wilson of Ennis, Texas: eighteen grandchildren: thirty-two great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents at a very early age, her husband J.D. Crow, one son, J.D. Crow, Jr., two brothers, one sister and her beloved Ida and Jesse Hall that raised her after the unexpected death of her parents.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 4 until 6 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
The family requests if you choose to make a donation in Nellie’s name they would recommend either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

    I loved Aunt Nellie and she will be missed greatly by her children
    And grandchildren. She was the best cook in the state of Texas. I will always remember her sugar pies. My mother loved her dearly and I know they are going to be so happy to see other again in heaven.
