Oleta Florene Thompson Paden


On July 24, 2018, Oleta Florene Thompson Paden went to meet Jesus. She was born on March 16, 1925, in Farwell, Texas, to Charles Lee and Ella (Kahlden) Thompson. She is survived by a sister, Lonetta, with her husband, Willie Denney of Las Cruces, New Mexico, a sister in-law, Mary Anne Thompson, of Colorado Springs, CO, a brother-in-law, Haskell Paden, Terrell, TX. Oleta was 93 years, four months and eight days old. She was elementary librarian, taught 3rd and 5th grades, and finally Oral Language for the Ennis ISD for 24 years. Oleta was a very active member of the churches of Christ. Her husband, Edsel, preceded her in death, September 7, 1981. She remained a widow for 37 years. Her survivors include Gary and Sharon Paden, Ennis, TX. John and Beth Reese, Austin, TX. Grandchildren are Marcus and Diane Reese, Lakewood, CO, Tracy and Ralph Chapman, Abilene, TX, Christina and Jason Butler, Round Rock, TX, Tammy and Lewis Short, Monduli, Tanzania, Daniel and Katie Reese, Huambo, Angola, Tim and Deb Paden, Temple, TX, and David and Jenna Reese, Floral, AR. Great grandchildren are Hannah, Hadassah, Rochelle, and Faith Reese, Lakewood, CO; Michela, Rebecca, and Deborah Short, Monduli, Tanzania; Kiersten, Naomi, and Silas Chapman, Abilene, TX; Ashleigh Butler, Round Rock, TX; Eliana, Sophia, and Samuel Reese, Huambo, Angola; and Ruby, Riley and Rowan Reese, Floral, AR. Because of declining health due to Lewy Body Dementia, she lived in the home of John and Beth in Austin for the last three years. Services were held at the Country Club Church of Christ, 1503 Country Club Road, Ennis, TX 75119 at 10 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Visitation was at the same place at 9 am.
