Patricia Nelson

Patricia Nelson, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 25, 2016, from Waxahachie, Texas.
Patricia was born in Flint, Michigan, on October 16, 1939, to Van and Nancy Dishong. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1958. In May 10, 1958, she married Walter Patrick Nelson and they made their home in several different states and Germany while he was serving in the United States Army.
She worked for the Ennis ISD for over eighteen years as a cafeteria worker and teacher’s aide. She was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer where she served as a first grade Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed reading, going to church and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and her memory will be cherished most by her family including her son, Rick Nelson and wife, Angela; daughter, Barbara Finnall; grandchildren: Taylor Hardy and wife Kandice, Samuel Hardy and fiancé, Courtney Windham, Brent Nelson and fiancé, Rylee Nekuza, Brandon Darden and wife, Ashley, Michael Darden and wife, Julie, Jeremy Finnall and wife, Amy, Nikki Colquitt and great-grandchildren: Joel, Jonah, Janet, Michael, Charlie, Henry, Hannah and Rilie. Patricia was blessed with additional friends that were like family including, Barbara and Zeb Zimmerman, her friend and caregiver, Joyce Bauch and her home health nurse, Kelsey Zaby.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Gary Miller, Matt Bowling, Pastor Cord Blankenship and James Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Zimmerman, Daryl Kvapil, Gilbert Santos, Jim Hudspeth, Sr., David Skroh and Caleb Hortman. Interment will follow in Telico Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
The family wishes to thank Family First Hospice for the care and love they showed to Patricia and the whole family.
