Ralph D. Williamson

Ralph D. Williamson, 86, passed away at his home in Ennis on March 26, 2011.

Ralph was born in Burleson, Texas on February 25, 1925 to Marvin Mitchell and Ruth (Woodard) Williamson. He grew up in Alvarado, Texas and attended school there. On January 17, 1992 he married Betty Colvin and they made their home in Alvarado before moving to Ennis in 2000. Ralph served his country proudly in the United States Navy during WWII where he earned several stars and medals.

He worked for over twenty-five years for Bell Helicopter as a machinist. He was a Baptist; he had been a member of the Masons since 1972 and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Williamson: two daughters, Janna and her husband, Rocky Roberts and Dana Cottongame; one son, Kevin Gothard: ten grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren and one sister; Helen Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents and had been widowed from his first wife Muriel Williamson.

Graveside services will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Myrtle Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Nelson and Rev. Kenneth Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be Mitch Woolard, Josh Flores, Richard Holliday, James Cottongame, Kerry Cottongame, Shayne Roberts, J.D. Norman and Rocky Roberts. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
