Raymond C. Alcala
Raymond C. Alcala, 77, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was born in Dallas, Texas, on December 14, 1934 to Eufemio and Seferina (Rangel) Alcala. On October 30, 1952 he was married to Catherine Pena where they made their home in Dallas until 1979 when they moved here to Ennis.
He was the proud owner and founder of R&A Custom Welding for more than fifty years. He was proud of his work; enjoyed his work; loved his work. There is much of his work displayed around this town he called home. The only thing Raymond loved more that creating metal fabrication, was his wife and family.
Not only was he a wonderful husband, but the best father and role model to his family. For those who really knew him, he was a hero, someone to look up to, someone to aspire to be like. For those of us who loved him, he will never be forgotten. Raymond’s legacy will live on by those who survive him: his wife, Catherine Alcala of Ennis; daughter Cathey Alcala of Red Oak; sons Raymond Jr. of Lewisville, TX, and David Alcala and his wife Milly both from Ennis. He leaves behind three grand-daughters: Vicki Spaniel and husband Glynn, Kimree Alcala, and Amy Alcala. Three great grand-daughters: Amanda Riddles, Alyssa-anne Riddles, and Alexa Riddles; one brother Joe Alcala and his wife Delores of Dallas; three sisters: Mickie Ramirez, Mary Alcala, and Juanita Alcala; and several nieces and nephews. All of whom love and honor him. He is preceded in death by a grand-daughter: Nina Alcala, several siblings, and both of his parents.
Thank you, Dad, for being our hero and the best dad anyone could ever ask for!
Visitation will be on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 6p.m. until 8 p.m. at J. E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis. A celebration of his life will take place on May 29, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Keever Mortuary in Ennis. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery under of the direction of Keever Funeral Home.
