Roland Willis Jones

Roland Willis Jones, 89, finished his watch here on earth and went to meet his Savior at his new Heavenly home shortly after midnight on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Roland was born in Bristol, Texas on July 16, 1929 to Robert L. and Loskie Mae (Stilwell) Jones. He grew up in Bristol and graduated from Ferris High School in 1946. He went on to attend Drauns Business College. On October 14, 1949 he married his sweetheart Marian Sills and they made their home in Bristol only leaving while he served his country proudly in the United States Army in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He worked for Praetorian Insurance Company for thirty years as a computer operator and worked on the family farm. He was a faithful member of Anthony Drive Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved his family with all his heart and they were the most important thing in his life next to his love for his Savior Jesus Christ. He was a master gardener and always had a bounty that he loved to share with family and friends. He was always ready to go and enjoy watching their grandchildren in all sports activities. He is survived by the love of his life for more than sixty-nine years, Marian Jones; his girls: Renee Davis and Carol Wilcox and husband, Donald; five grandchildren: Carly Collins, Rusty Collins and wife, Sharon, Seth Wilcox and wife, Desarea, Nathan Wilcox and Noah Wilcox; great-grandchildren: Camryn Collins, Alicia Collins, Elizabeth Collins, Julia Garcia and Haylen Wilcox; brother, J.C. Jones and wife, Sandy; sister, Linda Lewis along with a host of extended family and friends. He is met in glory by his parents, his sister, Becky Jones, brother, Bobby Jones and son-inlaw, Jay Davis. Visitation was held on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of his life was held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Matt Walker and Rev. Jerry Fulton officiating. Interment followed in Bristol Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
