Viola Christine Jaresh Dlabaj

Viola Christine Jaresh Dlabaj went to join her husband, Charlie, in heaven on their wedding anniversary, Sunday, October 14, 2012. She had been a resident at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Waxahachie.

She was born on December 16, 1926 to Willie and Alice (Kouba) Jaresh in Gunter, Texas. Soon after she graduated from Gunter High School, the family moved to the Ennis area. Viola worked at Duke and Ayres Department Store, and then married Charlie Leslie Dlabaj on October 14, 1947. They lived on a farm in Crisp for over fifty years.

Viola loved to sew, garden, read, do word puzzles and collect recipes. She contributed news articles to the Vestnik Czech newspaper, and kept journals. She was a member of SPJST fraternal organization and she and Charlie were once named Mr. and Mrs. SPJST. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Viola was very proud of her Czech heritage and she and Charlie were seen at dances every weekend for many years. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one son, Ernest Lee Dlabaj, one grandson Jacob Kahill Dlabaj, one brother Billy Dean Jaresh and one sister Shirley Ann Jaresh. She is survived by five children: Sandra Hartman of Waxahachie, Bobby Dlabaj and wife, Cathy of Palmer, Judy Patton and husband, Billy of Ennis, Ronnie Dlabaj and wife, Rose of Crisp and Debra Janicek and husband, Mark of Ennis. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Mass of the Christian burial will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in Crisp Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
