Winnie Louise Hobbs

Winnie Louise Hobbs, 83, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, in Malakoff, Texas.

Winnie was born in Palmer, Texas, on September 14, 1927 to Harry W. and Lucy Mae (Gothard) Winford.

She grew up in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School in 1944. On July 14, 1945 she married Ernest L. Hobbs and they made their home in Palmer.

Winnie attended Navarro Junior College and received her cosmetology license.

She was the owner and operator of the Glamourette Beauty Salon in Palmer for over thirty years.

She was a member of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer where she gladly served the Lord in many ways.

She was also a member of the Women’s Preservation Society and the Women’s Garden Club of Palmer.

She is survived by a son, Danny Hobbs Sr. of Payne Springs and daughter-in-law, Joy of Gun Barrel City; two grandchildren: Brenda Wilson and Lee Hobbs, and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren: Stephanie Bys and her husband, Jeff; Tiffany Wilson, Laney Hobbs and Keaton Hobbs; great-great-grandchildren: Cory, Quinn, Kyle, Caitlin, Karson, Brendan, Ava-Joy and Violet; one sister, Dorothy Ben Johnson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Hobbs, grandson Donny Thomas, six brothers and six sisters.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Palmer.

A celebration of her life took place on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer with Rev. Gary Miller officiating.

Interment followed at the Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Winnie’s name to the Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer Mission Fund.
