While we’re removing Confederate history

Dear Editor:

If all things Confederate are to be removed from view, then what about:

The political party that was proslavery in the South and the North...

- that birthed the Ku Klux Klan...

- that established and defended the segregationist Jim Crow laws…

- that put Japanese-American citizens in interment camps...

- that hyphenates people based on skin color, gender, ethnicity, religion...

- that is pro-abortion at any stage and demands that tax dollars be used to pay for the procedure...

- that weaponizes the federal government to attack its political opponents…

- that creates Sanctuary Cities for illegal immigrants to the detriment of law-abiding American citizens...

- that wants to defund the police…

- that wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment...

- that calls looters, rioters, and arsonists “peaceful protesters”...

- that denies school choice...

- that attacks and demonizes people of faith for exercising their faith on marriage and sexuality...

If “all history is instructive, but not all history is worthy of honor,” and if all things Confederacy was about the shameful practice of slavery, then all things about the Democrat Party must be put into perspective and context and put into the same historical dustbin.
