A Lion’s trip to state tennis meet

Junior Ben Erdmann was the only Lion to make it to state. With his tactical game, he fought his way to the meet in College Station, which was earlier this month. It’s not often when Ennis gets a male player to reach the state tennis tournament. Keith Howard, the Lions head coach, can’t recall it ever happening until this spring. When Ben Erdmann caught fire at the district tournament, he blazed his way to compete at College Station among the top eight in Class 5A. It sent Howard, who has coached Ennis tennis for 21 years, to the record books in search of a prior king of rackets. He’s taken to scouring the internet to verify that Erdmann is in fact the one and only. At 5’8,” he has climbed the ladder at Ennis.
