Alvarez sends out heartfelt goodbye to community
Just days after stepping down to take a job as athletic director and head football coach in Copperas Cove, former Ennis Lions football coach Jack Alvarez took time to send out a heartfelt goodbye to the community. “As I move onto the next chapter of my career and life at Copperas Cove, the biggest thing I will miss will be the young men that I got to coach everyday,” Alvarez said. “They are a special breed of young men that fight their hearts out every Friday night for each other. He moves to coach the Bulldawgs, a 6A program after the retirement of Copperas Cove coach Jack Welch. Welch, 60, agreed to an $80,000 buyout and left on May 1.
