Vote and vote often

In case you didn’t know it, early voting begins today in an important local election.
It’s time for the Ennis Daily News Annual Best of the Best readers’ choice awards.
The full-page nomination form published in today’s newspaper, will appear again in five more issues on July 31, August 2, 5, 7 and 9. With that many opportunities to fill out and submit your ballot, there’ll be no excuse not to make your voice heard.
And there’s a lot at stake. Specifically, bragging rights.
This is a fun chance for readers to say thanks for a job well done to the local businesses and people that add so much to our local quality of life. Some of the categories are pretty straightforward, like “Best Overall Restaurant.” Others are a little more off the beaten path, such as “Best Place to Take a Date.” With over 160 categories, we think just about everyone should be covered.
It’s all done in good fun and with the intention of showing off just how many quality businesses and service providers are available in our community. Ennis has an awful lot going for it and this is your chance to tell those folks who go above and beyond just how much you appreciate them.
The winners of the Best of the Best Awards will receive a certificate from the Ennis Daily News and will be listed in a special section to be published on Aug. 31. Since we don’t want the voters to get left out, we’ll be entering them into a drawing for first, second and third place prizes of $100, $50 and $25, respectively. It’s not often you get paid for voting, so don’t miss this chance. Your votes must be submitted to our office by the end of business on August 13.
We had great participation last year and look forward to seeing our readers’ choices for this year’s “Best of the Best.”
