Man pays $347 for 50-cent paper

A Ferris man was arrested Friday afternoon after attempting to shoplift an Ennis Daily News from Super 1 Foods.
According to the police report, the suspect was seen attempting to leave the store without paying for the newspaper when store employees detained the suspect until police arrived. Officer Don Hudson responded to the incident and transported the suspect to Ennis police department without further incident.
Noah Obrien, 18, of Ferris was charged with theft of less than $50. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine of $347 for attempting to steal the 50-cent newspaper.
