Civil suit filed in Durbin case

Dr. Stephen Durbin can add civil charges to the list of troubles that the Ennis City Commissioner is now facing.
In addition to the pending criminal charges against the dentist for allegedly hiding a wireless video camera in the changing room of his dental office, eight of his former female employees are suing him for unspecified damages related to the charges.
Clay Jenkins, the attorney representing the former employees, said the claim is being brought by his clients because Dr. Durbin violated their trust and their faithful service by taking pictures of them while they were dressing and undressing at work.
Jenkins cited previous reports that Durbin admitted to videoing the women as they changed from their street clothes to scrubs on a digital recording made by employees who confronted him about the incident.
Mark Griffith, Durbin’s attorney, said the filing of a civil suit on a case that is only 10 days old is a clear attempt just to get money.
The suit indicates the women claim Durbin is addicted to pornography.
Durbin turned himself in to authorities Aug. 18 after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of improper photography or video recording.
