Guns, drugs found

While checking on a client, a probation officer requested police assistance when guns and pipes police say were linked with cocaine use were located inside a home at 508 E. Milam St., according to Det. Lt. Ron Roark.

Roark said at approximately 9:32 a.m. Officer Sid Lopez and Det. Sgt. Mike Hopson arrived at the residence to investigate possible substance possession. Police asked to enter the home but when the occupants refused, Det. Sgt. Hopson obtained a search warrant. Once police entered the residence, guns and drug paraphernalia had been hidden from view.
According to Roark, police found three partial bags of narcotics, two weapons and cash totaling nearly $5,000. Police took two suspects into custody and transported them to Ennis police department without further incident.
Jason Anderson, 34, of Ennis was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Ashley Payne, 19, of Ennis was charged with possession of a controlled substance. It was also discovered Payne had an outstanding warrant out of the Dallas County Sheriff’s office for possession of controlled substance.
