Voters should attend EISD meeting tonight

There’s a very important community meeting taking place tonight and we urge our readers to make plans to attend it.
The Ennis Independent School District is inviting the community to meet at 7 p.m. at San Jacinto Auditorium to learn more about plans for the fourth and fifth grade students next year and also to get information about the upcoming bond election.
With the closure of the Ennis Intermediate School, fourth and fifth grade students are currently attending classes at the Sixth Grade Center and the district’s elementary campuses. It’s important for parents of students in grades 4-6 to attend tonight’s meeting to get information on next year’s plans.
Everyone in our community should also be interested in getting information on the proposed bond. Early voting begins April 28 and district officials are working overtime to let local voters know what the bond includes and how it affects our students and taxpayers.
We have said before that there is no excuse for going into the May 10 bond election without having all of the facts. Tonight’s meeting is another example of all that is being done to make sure local voters can have their questions answered and find out the real story about what this bond entails.
School district officials and board members will be on hand tonight to answer those questions and we encourage local voters to attend so they can be addressed.
It’s vital that every voter makes an informed decision and we applaud our school district officials for doing everything they can to ensure that all voters have the opportunity to learn about this bond package.
