Country Thunder has some explaining to do

What does the future hold for Country Thunder in Texas? Will there be any sort of statement released that resembles an apology to country music fans from the Country Thunder camp for canceling the concert a week before it was to begin? What happens to the folks who bought advance tickets?
These are some questions that will need to be answered if Country Thunder USA is going to get back in the good graces of Texans any time soon.
Plenty of eyebrows were raised at Wednesday’s announcement that Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and the other big-name artists would not be performing just a few miles outside of Ennis. They released a brief media statement, but haven’t answered many of the questions fans are left with. To make matters even more confusing, the Country Thunder higher-ups completely erased all evidence of the local Country Thunder event by deleting the link for the Texas show from their website. So fans shouldn’t bother looking there for any answers.
Since this would have only been Country Thunder’s second year in Ellis County it’s not as if the concert was a countywide staple that was relied on by local businesses, but it certainly wasn’t going to hurt the local economy. Ennis hotels are already receiving cancellations for next weekend and local restaurants and other businesses will miss out on the influx of out-of-town patrons.
The possible extermination of Country Thunder in Ellis County isn’t just an economic missed opportunity, but also a setback in the way of bringing entertainment and awareness to our neck of the DFW metroplex.
We hope the officials at Country Thunder will be more forthcoming with information about the reasons for the cancellation and how they will make it up to advance ticket-holders, many of whom were still reeling from last year’s rain-out. Until then if nothing is said then speculation is going to run rampant.
