Sign up for extra security

At the Ennis Daily News, we are thrilled the city is implementing an emergency mass communication system. The service will be provided by the Connect-CTY mass notification service from Blackboard Connect Inc.
We encourage the residents of Ennis to register for this important service. Of course, our hope is it doesn’t need to be used too often, but it is always better to be prepared. The service will be able to inform residents of any weather-related emergency or other crisis.
This service will make recorded calls to residents in a matter of minutes, swiftly informing them of any impending disaster. In many emergency situations, every second counts. The efficiency of this service will help people keep themselves and their families safe.
The fact that the city of Ennis has taken this step to make safety a priority for residents shows that the city officials really care about the community. City officials will send a message via the Internet no matter where they are.
Be sure to sign up for the service before Thursday, when test calls will be made. If your phone number is listed in the phone book, you are already registered. However, if it isn’t, you can visit www.ennis-texas.com and click on the link that says, “Sign up now—Services by Connect-CTY” and enter your contact information. If you do not have the Internet, call 972-875-1234.
This new service will keep residents informed and safer. Please take advantage of this service. It could save your life.
