WAG reaches out to local students

Bruce Carter spoke about the growing popularity and need of We Are Graduating in the Ennis community Wednesday at the Ennis Noon Lions Club meeting.
“Our goal is to make you the best you can be,” Carter said of the fifth- to eighth-grade students in the group.
We Are Graduating, possibly better known by its shorter name WAG, began in Waco as an educational program.
The WAG program is an outreach group comprised of hundreds of students who are committed to excelling in education and graduating from high school. The mission of WAG is to motivate, demonstrate and empower children to reach their highest potential through obtaining exceptional education and living a well-mannered lifestyle.
WAG provides participants leadership training, etiquette training, entrepreneurial training, job training programs, mentoring programs, tutoring and test preparation, self-esteem training, community involvement, volunteerism, educational and field trips, as well as a scholarship upon graduating.
Carter, WAG CEO, expressed how important it was for his program and other local groups to reach out to the youth of Ennis in order to mold the young minds that would be making decisions regarding the city in the future. Carter said this week alone WAG has received six applications for new student enrollment from Ennis Junior High School.
