Employers handle wage boost

Even though a federally mandated minimum wage increase will raise costs for employers, local businesses are staying optimistic about their expenditures.
Minimum wage increased Friday from $6.55 an hour to $7.25 an hour. The increase will benefit the lowest-paid workers in the 30 states, including Texas, that have lower or no set minimum wage.
In Ennis, many businesses prepared cost-saving measures so that their employees can be paid the new minimum without sacrificing hours or jobs.
