District school children cut loose for 2-week break

Students across Ennis ISD got a head start on the Christmas break by getting released from school early on Friday.
At Travis Elementary School, cars were lined up as early as 11:30 with parents awaiting their children’s release from class and subsequent two-week vacation from school.

Many parents were looking forward to spending time with their children during the break.

“We’re just spending time with the kids,” said Travis parent Monica Ramirez.

She said her family is staying in town, but plans to do activities they don’t normally get to do when the kids are in school. Many trips to Galaxy Drive-in are planned, Ramirez said. She said she will let her kids stay up a little later to play video games.

“But of course, they get up earlier when you just want them to sleep late,” she said.
